2010 International Trade Award Winners

More than 230 guests participated in the 2010 WTWNYC Awards Breakfast. The breakfast featured the Honorable Carolyn B. Maloney, U.S. House of Representatives, Christine Quinn, Speaker of the New York City Council and many distinguished representatives of the international business community in the New York metropolitan region. The breakfast honored New York companies that are doing business internationally and organizations that are helping New York companies grow through trade:

International Achievement Award

For establishing a company in the New York region whose growth and achievements in its industry exemplify international success.

Small Business Global Trade Award

For growth and achievement exemplifying international success by a small business in the New York region.

Awardees:

Global Trade Award

For significant contributions demonstrating dedication and continued contributions to the growth of trade in the New York region.

Awardee: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Export Achievement Award

To recognized small and medium-sized enterprises that have successfully entered and/or expanded in the international marketplace. (U.S. Department of Commerce)

Export Appreciation Award

Recognizes international trade partner organizations for supporting U.S. export development and for creating opportunities for U.S. businesses through trade. (U.S. Department of Commerce)

Global Green Award

For leadership in promoting environmental sustainability and economic development around the globe by a company in the New York region.

Awardee: Astonfield Renewables, Inc.


The Awards Breakfast featured Joseph P. Quinlan, Economist and Chief Global Market Strategist, Investment Strategies Group, Bank of America as the keynote speaker. Audio link to his remarks click here.

Many organizations participated in hosting and promoting events for World Trade Week NYC 2010. For example, the Council on Foreign Relations featured an interview on their website with Jonathan Huneke, Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, U.S. Council for International Business “Boosting U.S. Growth with Trade.” The interview was taped during the WTW Awards Breakfast.
